Opening Day Of 2024 PPB Motorsports Show Draws Big Crowd;  Megan Williams Crowned Ms. Motorsports 2024

by admin / Friday, 19 January 2024 / Published in Motorsports

Oaks, PA (Jan. 19) – Thousands of enthused racers and fans interacted with hundreds of exhibitors from across the spectrum of motorsports on Friday, opening day of the Pioneer Pole Buildings Race Car & Trade Show inside the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.

Megan Williams, 25, of New Tripoli, PA  was crowned Aqua Duck Water Transport Ms. Motorsports 2024, winning the prestigious crown over 15 other contestants. Lindsay Garl, Ms. Motorsports 2023, crowned her successor.  Alex Brown was named first runner-up, and  Haylie Hammond was second runner-up. Ms. Hammond  (Swimwear), Becky York  (Sportswear), Mallory Kutz (Ms. Congeniality), and Christina Contento (Interview)  were also special award recipients.

NASCAR Legend Ken Schrader was “in the house” Friday to sign autographs, meet and greet fans, and sign copies of his new book ‘Still Racing’, his second autobiography which relates Schrader’s life and times from his last 20 years in the sport.

“Joyce Standridge, who wrote the first book, reminded me that I had raced for close to 20 years since the first one came out. So we did another one, kind of like just picking up where we had  left off,” Schrader said. Books were selling well Friday at the Show.

The ‘Remembering Bob Weikert Tribute’ proved to be a popular attraction for the region’s 410 Sprint Car fans. Three of Weikert’s vintage No. 29 Sprint cars were on display and several prominent Weikert drivers were on hand during the day. Among them were Randy Wolfe and Von McGee, as well as Todd and Ike Weikert, Bob Weikert’s two sons and Steve O’Neal, Port Royal Speedway promoter.  Paul Szmal and Eric Zembower emceed a  lively Roundtable event.

“Remembering Dad today at the Motorsports Show was quite a moving experience,” Todd Weikert shared. “He was a good man, a passionate race car owner, and a good father and we are proud to continue to honor his legacy in racing.”

Dale and Brandon Planck conducted a well-attended seminar in which the merits of their DIG Shocks was discussed and questions answered.

The Haas Formula 1 car drew great attention from show attendees Friday. It was just the second time a Formula 1 car, which is a surprising 18 feet in length, has been displayed at a Motorsports Show.

Day Two of the 2024 PPB Motorsports Race Car & Trade Show begins at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.  NASCAR Cup great Schrader will return and will be joined by fellow NASCAR legend Jimmy Spencer to meet and greet fans.  In addition, the Pioneer Pole Buildings ‘family of drivers’, headed by Craig VonDohren, Freddie Rahmer, and Billy Pauch, Jr., will congregate in the PPB Booth to sign autographs.

At 2:45 p.m., Freddie Rahmer, Matt Hirschman, and Steven Snyder, Jr., the winningest Sprint, Asphalt Modified, and Micro Sprint drivers will sign autographs for fans and pose for pictures on the D-Hall Stage.

The PPB Motorsports Race Car concludes on Saturday, January 19 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.  For more information visit www.motorsportstradeshow.com
