Pioneer Pole Buildings’ Motorsports Influence To Be On Display At Front Of This Weekend’s Show At Greater Philadelphia Expo Center
OAKS, PA – When the doors open at the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2024 show this Friday and Saturday, January 19th and 20th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, the involvement of the title sponsor for the last ten events will be showcased at the front entrance.
Pioneer Pole Buildings (PPB) has been the title sponsor of the Motorsports show since 2014. Their support and sponsorship of local short-track racing on many different levels will become obvious when walking around their spacious display at the show when it opens at 2 PM on Friday and 10 AM on Saturday.
PPB, headquarter in Schuylkill Haven, PA, will be promoting their product line while showcasing a Modified, Sprint Car, Late Model, Micro Sprint and Slingshot they will sponsor this season.
That will include the unveiling of a brand-new No. 1 dirt Modified owned and to be driven by Billy Pauch Jr. this season. Pauch’s famous father, now retired from Modified competition, has anchored the front of the display annually for many years, now it’s his son’s car.
The winningest open cockpit driver in the northeast in 2023, Freddie Rahmer will have his No. 51 410 Sprint Car, a number made famous by his father as well, on display.
Craig Von Dohren’s new No. 30 and Kevin Hirthler’s No. 117 Modifieds will also be a part of the display as well as Jonathan Swanson’s USAC East non-wing Sprint Car,
Showing the range of PPB’s support in racing, Jim Bernheisel’s No. 31 Super Late Model will be on display as well as Brett Bieber’s Slingshot and Micro Sprints to be driven by Matthew and Trent Warner. Davey Sammons’ PPB sponsored No. 79 Modified and Logan Watt’s No. 4w will be located just across the aisle way in the Bob Hilbert Sportswear booth.
Team PPB drivers will also be signing special autograph cards as part of three different groups on Saturday afternoon. Stop by and get an autograph and photo with your favorite driver!
Sprint Car drivers will kick off the autographs on Saturday from 12 noon to 1 AM with the Rahmers: Fred, Freddie and Brandon joined by brothers Jonathan and David Swanson along with Trevor Kobylarz.
The legend Billy “The Kid” Pauch Sr, his son Billy Jr. and grandson Billy III will anchor the 1 to 2 PM group along with Mason Peters, Steve Sterner, Christian Bruno, Jared Umbenhauer, Matthew Warner, Trent Warner, Christian Donati and Logan Watt.
Von Dohren, the winningest driver in the history of the Grandview Speedway and Super Late Model veteran Jim Bernheisel and son Bryan headline the 2:00-3:00 PM group along with Davey Sammons.
The Hirthler family will also be a part of this group. That includes Modified and Sportsman racers Kevin Hirthler and brother Brian. Kevin’s son Jesse (Sportsman) and daughter Kayla (Quarter Midgets) will join them as well.

Former NASCAR Cup series driver Ken Schrader and Jimmy Spencer will be talk racing on stage during the show and signing autographs. A special tribute to long-time successful Sprint Car owner Bob Weikert will be held during the entire show.
On Friday at 8 PM the Aqua-Duck Water Transport sponsored Ms. Motorsports pageant will be held. Thanks to Aqua-Duck, this year’s winner will again receive $2,500 and the swim suit winner $500.
After the show closes on Friday at 9 PM a post-show party, hosted by Old Milwaukee Beer, will follow to 12 midnight in D-Hall. Bucket of beer specials, a full bar and a range of different food items will be available. A live band and a DJ will offer non-stop music.
The RAACE Foundation sponsored Big Wheel races will be held on Saturday at 3 PM in three ages groups from 3 to 9. No pre-entry is needed, children with their parents must check in at the stage area prior to 1 PM. Big Wheels are supplied.

After a highly successful Billy Pauch Tribute during the entire January 2023 event, Weikert’s career as a car owner will be featured in a large D-Hall exhibit in 2024. Several of the famed Weikert’s Livestock No. 29 Sprint Cars will be on display and many drivers who drove them will be on hand to meet fans, take part in two stage events and sign autographs. Bob passed away in 2002, but his two sons, Todd and Ike are expected to be on hand for the tribute.
Weikert won over 500 feature events, over a 30-year period as a car owner. He purchased his first Sprint Car in 1971 for driver Richard Lupo who won for him the first two times out. Later that year he forged a long-time relationship with the late Kenny Weld and together, won the 1972 Knoxville Nationals together. During a three-year span, they won over 100 features together. Doug Wolfgang, with mechanics Davey Brown, Sr. and Jr., took Weikert back to the Knoxville Nationals victory lane in 1984 and 1985, just two of 150 victories they had together in less than four years.

Legendary Drag Racer Bruce Larson is bringing to the show a new Shelby Cobra Dragronsnake. Shelby American, Inc. recently authorized the building of five new Shelby Cobras by Legendary G.T. Continuation Cars in Roaring Spring, PA, and each of these cars has a selling price of $750,000. The car that Larson will bring to the show is the first one in this new series.
The orginial Dragonsnake was a special edition of the Shelby Cobra and just eight cars in this line were outfitted with that performance package. The new car has a much-more powerful Ford V-8 engine than Larson’s original car he drag raced in 1963.
Larson will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs both days of the show as will NASCAR legend Ken Schrader. Jimmy Spencer, will be making a guest appearance on Saturday at the show.

Hyperco and Behrents will be giving one person a set of four Hyperco coils that attend the seminar via a drawing.
12:45 – 1:45 PM (Room 1) SPRINT CAR HELP with JIM SHREINER: With over 25 years of experience working with some of the best Sprint Car drivers and teams in the country, veteran crew chief Jim Shreiner be hosting a one-hour seminar to offer advice to the Sprint Car beginner to racers competing at different levels up the ladder in the sport. A former Micro Sprint driving champion, Shreiner learned Sprint Car racing from some of the best crew chiefs in the business after his retirement behind the wheel. He then enjoyed success working with drivers such as Keith Kauffman, Doug Esh, Justin Henderson, Tyler Walker and most recently Dylan Cisney. Shreiner will discuss needed car and engine maintenance, chassis set-up, following a race track, needed discussion with the driver and much more. Bring your concerns and questions!
1:00- 2:00 PM: (Room 2) TAKING PHOTOS AT THE TRACK– Hosted by award winning racing photographer BOB YURKO of Area Auto Racing News: For the “amateur” or the person looking to enter the business, this seminar provides “the basics” of racing photography.
2:00 – 3:00 PM: (Room 1) WATT’S UP IN SPORTSMAN – Veteran Modified winning driving RYAN WATT quickly coached his teenage son LOGAN WATT to the Grandview Speedway crate Sportsman track championship, second in Big Diamond Raceway points and third in the Short Track Super Series this season! Both father and son have offered their time to cover what they feels is needed for a team to know or have to help a young driver making the move from small cars, or a current Sportsman competitor wanting to improve. Open discussion between racing writers/photographers and track/series Promoters/Managers and Press Directors as to professionalism, credential usage and pre and post-event coverage. A featured topic will be “Today’s Racing Social Media”, with emphasis on how tracks/organizations are using Facebook, Twitter and related “social media” in publicizing their events; and “credential approval by tracks in the new era of social media.”
3:15 – 4:15 PM (Room 1) TIRE PREP – Jay Castimore, the long-time dirt Modified tire specialists for Brett Hearn and most recently Stewart Friesen, will address American Racer and Hoosier tire preparation and equipment to use for grooving, siping and needling. He’ll talk about where on the tire to do the work, which blocks, how deep and what direction. When to use it, when not… plus tire compound choice and watching an ever changing race track before making a decision. The discussion will also include tire maintenance and dicussions he has with his drivers. Bring your questions to the tire expert!
4:30- 5:30 PM: (Room 1) NEW ENTRY LEVEL CLASS FOR CHILDREN – HYPER RACING will be hosting an informative seminar regarding Junior Sprints, a new entry level division for children that is being introduced this season to the northeast. The Junior Sprint class originated in the Midwest around 2004 as a driver development class and is designed for drivers 5 (or 6 depending on track) to 12 years old. The class was born with the idea to create a class where the 600cc Sprint drivers would have a place for their children or younger siblings to race at the same track on the same nights.

Oaks, PA – Jimmy Spencer, a winner NASCAR’s Cup, Xfinity and Truck divisions, will be making a guest appearance at the 2024 Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports Race Car & Trade Show in 2024. The two-day PPB Show takes place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA on Fri., Jan. 19 and Sat., Jan. 20, 2024.
Spencer will be on stage for what promises to be a provocative, revealing in-depth interview session with PPB Motorsports Show announcer Paul Szmal on Saturday, January 20 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Jimmy Spencer followed his father Ed into racing. He started driving Late Models in Pennsylvania. He captured his first win in the Late Model division at Port Royal, PA Speedway in 1976. He moved to NASCAR Modifieds at Shangri-La, NY Speedway, then branched out to bigger events throughout the Northeast.
In 1984, Spencer, who by this time had earned is nickname, “Mr. Excitement”, won NASCAR Modified Tour titles in 1986 and 1987.
Spencer’s next move was to the then Busch, now Xfinity, Series, where in 211 starts, he won 12 times. He then moved to the NASCAR Cup series in 1989 and in 1994won the Daytona Pepsi 400 and just weeks later the Talladega DieHard 500.
Before he retired he also added a NASCAR Truck series win to his resume. Spencer then became a TV celebrity, with reoccurring appearances on several NASCAR themed magazine format programs. He’s most known on television for his “crying towel” segments.
Fans will have the opportunity to connect with Spencer one-on-one at the show from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for autographs and conversation.

Oaks, PA – Ken Schrader, a legend in NASCAR Cup, USAC and short track racing will appear both days of the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2024 Show. The two-day show will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA, its home since 2010, on Friday, January 19th from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, January 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Schrader remarkably won races in all three of NASCAR (Cup, Xfinity, Trucks) and USAC (Silver Crown, Sprint, Midget) elite divisions as well as many championships. He won his first championship in the Sportsman division at a speedway near his Fenton, MO home in 1971.
Now 68 years young living in Concord, NC, Schrader’s driving career continues today on America’s short-tracks racing both on dirt and asphalt in Modified and Late Model competition. In 2023 he was a full time participant in the SRX Racing Series.
On Saturday at 12 noon Schrader will take to the stage to talk about his career, his recently published book “Still Racing” and take questions from fans in a special One-On-One presentation.

NHRA Legendary Funny Car Driver Bruce Larson, USA-1 Funny Car At Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2023 Show
Oaks, PA – Bruce Larson, the man whose career in NHRA Funny Car racing made both himself and the USA-1 designation household names in drag racing, will be at the 37th Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports Race Car and Trade Show in the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
Larson, of Dauphin, PA, will be available for autographs, photos and talk with fans during the majority of the show. He will also be on stage Friday, January 20 from 6:00 to 6:30 PM for a “one-on-one” with show attendees, shedding insight into his Hall Of Fame career.
The show stopper is likely to be Larson’s unrestored red, white and blue 2,500-horsepower USA-1 1979 Corvette AA/Funny Car which is being featured in the ‘ Showcase’ exhibit at PPB Motorsports all weekend.
The NASCAR Next Gen No. 41 Cup car, to be driven by Ryan Preece, will also be part of the Showcase. On Saturday at 3PM Preece will be on stage talking about his full-time return to the Cup series this season and his past victory last season on the NASCAR Truck series. He’ll then sign autographs next to the the United Rentals No. 41 from 3:30 to 5:30.
A Tribute to Billy Pauch Sr. will be conducted during the entire show with a showing of cars he drove and a special 50 foot wall of pictures. Two stage show tributes are also planned. Pauch will be available during the show on Friday and Saturday to sign copies of “THE LAST COWBOY: The Life and Times of Billy Pauch” which will be available for sale at the show.

Two comprehensive Super DIRT Week tickets for the October Classic at N.Y.’s Oswego Speedway will be chosen from a free drawing.

NASCAR Cup Driver, Modified Standout Ryan Preece Coming To Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2023 Show Sat., Jan. 21; New Ride, Stewart Haas No. 41 Show Car To Be Part Part Of Expansive ‘Showcase Cars’ Display
Oaks, PA – NASCAR Cup series driver Ryan Preece will be making a special appearance at the Pioneer Pole Building Motorsports 2023 Show to meet and greet his legions of fans at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. The event runs on Friday January 20th from 2 to 9 PM and Saturday, January 21 from 11 AM to 8 PM.
Preece, who will drive full-time on the NASCAR Cup Series this year for Stewart-Haas Racing, will go on stage on Saturday of the show from 3 to 3:30 for an interview to outline his busy racing season plans. Following the discussion, Preece will personally meet and greet fans at his United Rentals No. 41 Next Gen Ford Mustang near the front entrance of A-Hall from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM signing autographs.
Preece, 32, of Berlin, CT., has 115 previous NASCAR Cup starts, 62 Xfinity attempts, and 12 Truck races. The former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, made the move to the Cup series after winning two NASCAR Xfinity races. This past year he won two NASCAR Truck races.
While he now lives in North Carolina, Preece has not forgotten his roots. He will continue his 16-year NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career when he can this year which consisted of 171 starts, 25 victories, a 2013 Series title and four title runnerup finishes, in 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2015.
Former NHRA champion Bruce Larson will have his championship winning Funny Car in the Showcase area as well. Larson will be available for autographs, photos and talk with fans during the majority of the show.
A Tribute to Billy Pauch Sr. will be conducted during the entire show with a showing of cars he drove and a special 50 foot wall of pictures. Two stage show tributes are also planned. Pauch will be available during the show on Friday and Saturday to sign copies of “THE LAST COWBOY: The Life and Times of Billy Pauch” which will be available for sale at the show.
Several of the Pioneer Pole Building sponsored race cars will be part of nearly 200 race cars of all kinds on display. Race cars will range from a small in size Quarter Midget driven by children to a Monster Truck. Circle track cars will be featured, but drag cars and land speed record vehicles will also be on display.
The Super DIRTcar Series booth will be graced with the No. 8H Modified driven on the circuit by Max McLaughlin. Northeast regional director Dean Reynolds will be on hand to answer questions. Two comprehensive Super DIRT Week tickets for the October Classic at N.Y.’s Owego Speedway will be chosen from a free drawing.
Other speedways and organizations will use the show to announce their plans for the new season. A continuous offering of informative racer seminars will make Motorsports Saturday a very important day for racers.
On Friday at 8 PM the Aqua-Duck Water Transport sponsored Ms. Motorsports pageant will be held. Thanks to Aqua-Duck, this year’s winner will receive $2,500 and the swim suit winner $500. Contestants are urged to enter in advance.
The RAACE Foundation sonsored Big Wheel races will be held on Saturday at 2 PM in three ages groups from 3 to 9. No pre-entry is needed, children with their parents must check in at the stage area prior to 1 PM. Big Wheels are supplied.
Show hours will run 2-9 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are available at the door beginning one hour before the show opens. Free parking surrounding the Expo Center.
